LMS Interactive Video and Multimedia
Week 5 Objectives
7.1 Interactive Video and Multimedia
Assignment / Equipment
Operating System: OSX (Yosemite 10.10.5)
Applications: Camtasia 2.10.3, TechSmith, & YouTube
Equipment:
Reflection
While this strategy worked, it was time consuming – requiring creation of 42 annotations (6 for each topic, repeated each time a section of the video ends to permit the viewer to branch out into any of the available 6 video branches. The 7th menu is provided at the end to enable the viewer to return to any of the sections of the video).
Surely there is a more efficient way to create branched videos than the process I just described above. Does anyone have a suggestion for a better way or better set of software tools to enable more efficient video products with branches?
As I step back and view my submitted branched video product, it I can see that narration throughout much of the video (at least a little commentary from time to time) could make it more interesting as well as more informative. I wanted to use Garageband to overly Royal Free music with this video, but most of my time was consumed going down various software dead ends and/or overcoming roadblocks on my way to create a branched video. A cool feature in Garageband is call “ducking. With ducking, you can overlay a music soundtrack over audio narration and Garageband will automatically lower the music when the narrator speaks and raise the volume of the music back up each time the narrator stops talking. In this way, I could have easily filled the silent gaps in my branched video with lively music.
What follows are the data entries required to establish each of the 42 annotations:
Applications: Camtasia 2.10.3, TechSmith, & YouTube
Equipment:
- iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.4.1
- MacBook Pro (15 in Retina)
- Microphone (Samson Meteor Mic)
- Phantom 2000 Quadcopter
